Our Rapid Force Duty Holsters have up to three levels of retention.
1st Level of Retention:
FOR SIG & SW HOLSTERS ONLY: The 1st level of retention in our holster works by putting pressure on the slide of the firearm and it can be adjusted using the included Allen key. The holster shells will have the visible adjustment hex screw, as well as the retention indicator. This is the passive retention.
Please note: Glock V3 holsters no longer have the retention adjustment screw as this is set just right for OEM Glock frames. This is important as some Glock clones may fit the holster but may not have the exact retention you are looking for. Shadow Systems will usually fit in the holster but some of the slide serrations and window cuts may cause some drawing issue due to the ejection port locking system. Dusk 19 frames from Lone Wolf will fit as well but will be a little loose in the holster due to dimensions. Zev frames will not fit in the holster.
How To Adjust Your 1st Level of Retention
You will need the included Allen key to make adjustments on the muzzle end of your holster. Depending on what firearm you have this may be located in a slightly different spot.
You can use the indicator to gauge the retention on the firearm. More bars for more retention.
When testing your firearm in the holster be sure to clear your firearm prior to testing.
2nd Level of Retention & 3rd Level of Retention:
On our V3 duty holsters come standard now with 3 levels of retention. The optic hood can be removed from the holster if you would like to but we suggest running the hood as most duty rated optics will fit under the optic hood. The 3rd level of retention is a back strap that is released by a push button. The push button is placed so that the thumb swipe can be operated in the same motion. This is the second level of Active Retention.
