IWB Comparison Guide

Here at Alien Gear we offer a few great Inside the Waist Band (IWB) holstering options. Below you can find some comparisons and information on the options we offer, their similarities and their differences.

First up, we have our Strong Side designed holsters. These should be worn just behind the hip as far back as over your rear pocket though we have seen many successful variants carried at 3 o'clock to about 5 o'clock on the waist.

Cloak tuck 3.5: Coined “the most comfortable IWB holster on the planet.” This holster sports a soft and breathable CoolVent™ neoprene backer to keep you cool and dry. An added steel spring core helps add to retention and keep the shape of the holster for ease of draw and re-holstering. The holsters are wide by design to disperse the weight of your pistol over sufficient lateral space to reduce sag and improve comfort and stability. Offering our innovative tool-less holster clips, you can easily adjust your ride height and cant without any tools!

Cloak Tuck 3.0: Alien Gear Holsters Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB holster for revolvers is the most comfortable concealed carry wheel gun holster on the planet. Any planet. This inside the waistband revolver holster is the next evolution within the Cloak Tuck Series, providing concealed carriers with improved retention, enhanced flexibility, and superior comfort. The holsters are wide by design to disperse the weight of your pistol over sufficient lateral space to reduce sag and improve comfort and stability. To customize your holster comfort, we have made it easy for you to adjust your Cloak Tuck 3.0's cant (angle) and ride height by simply relocating the holster clips provided. Our engineers have also made it possible for you to customize the holster retention to your gun with the turn of a few screws.

*Please note: Revolvers and their bases have a different bolt pattern to our semi-automatic shells and backers. You can not interchange revolver and semi-auto shells.

Original Cloak Tuck – Leather: Our "Cloak Tuck" Holster is an inside the waistband hybrid holster that hides your gun so well, no one will ever suspect you are carrying. The base is a 10-12 ounce slab of English bridal leather. The leather is drum dyed and should not cry or leak dye if it takes on moisture. It also features a fully swappable Boltaron shell that is interchangeable for use with the any other Cloak Series product. This holster comes equipped either with our standard nylon clips, designed for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch belts, or our steel clips that fit belts up to 1 3/4 inches. For enhanced conceal-ability nylon "C" clips and "J" clips are also available as add-on items. The holsters are wide by design to disperse the weight of your pistol over sufficient lateral space to reduce sag and improve comfort and stability.

ShapeShift 4.0: To improve on the award-winning Cloak Tuck 3.5, the ShapeShift IWB Holster is designed with a single mounting point, allowing the steel-reinforced holster base to flex and conform to you slightly better that Cloak Series IWB holsters. This, combined with our soft and breathable CoolVent™ neoprene backer, will deliver the highest level of comfort for concealed carriers. But we didn’t stop at comfort.
100% tool-less, you can adjust your ride height, retention, and even carry style on the fly without needing to weigh yourself down with extra tools. The holsters are wide by design to disperse the weight of your pistol over sufficient lateral space to reduce sag and improve comfort and stability.

The next style of IWB are Appendix Holsters (AIWB). These are worn at the front of your body, roughly between your front pockets. These standardly have a single belt clip, and a much smaller profile in general.

ShapeShift Appendix: Taking that same ShapeShift versatility, and shrinking the backer down, we have our Appendix Carry option. NOTE: This carry style DOES NOT allow for an adjustable ride height nor cant.

Roswell IWB: Designed for strongside or appendix carry, this reinforced polymer holster is designed to cover your full slide and barrel, offering secure trigger coverage as well. With the appendix carry claw and wedge included, you have the ability to make this our most concealed holster yet.

Photon IWB: Our Most versatile holster to date! This ambidextrous holster can be worn IWB (inside the waistband) or OWB (outside the waistband), Left or Right-handed. We have included a claw for that added concealability in the appendix position. By default, each holster will be optic ready: The holster fits all standard optic mounting plates that don’t extend past the front of the optic mount, giving you the flexibility to customize your setup to fit your specific needs. This is also our ONLY holster that will support co-witness sights with your optic.

Grip Tuck Universal:The Grip Tuck Universal holster features a grippy, textured outer material. This outer covering provides plenty of traction, gripping against fabric for a secure hold. If you are using it inside the waistband, you'll also notice three holes for use with our toolless belt clips. Ride height is adjustable, and you can change cant angle as well. This holster is a great "Grab and Go" option for "heading to the store real quick" scenarios.
