Cloak Series offers two different type of formed shells. These are heat molded shells are made from Bolteron which is very similar to Kydex. For our most popular firearms, we offer injection molded shells, which use a premium polymer that is more resistant to cracking and temperature changes.
Some differences you will notice between injection molded shells and hand molded Bolteron shells are the increased finite details of the injection molded vs the smoother, more fluid contours of the hand molded shells. The Injection molded offering are laser measured to fit the base version of the firearm specifically. Be advised aftermarket parts of any sort can affect the retention with injection molded shells.
We use injection molded Cloak Shells for right hand draw on the following firearms:
S&W Shield
Sig P365
Sig P365XL
Springfield Hellcat
Springfield XDs Mod.2 3.3 inch
Taurus G2s
Glock 17/Glock 22
Glock 26/Glock 27
Glock 19/Glock 23/Glock 32/Glock 38
Glock 43/ Glock 43x
Ruger Security 9
S&W Shield 9 EZ
This is a Boltaron Shell on a Cloak Tuck 3.5 IWB holster base:
This is the injection molded shell for the same firearm. The injection molded shells will have as much excess material removed as possible and the screw holes are counter sunk which negates the offset washers used on our heat pressed Boltaron shells.
